Chocolate Cherry Cake

This recipe is courtesy of my Grandma Cain

Cake:

1 chocolate cake mix
1 can pie cherries
1 teaspoon almond extract
2 beaten eggs

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a 9 x 13 baking pan. Combine all ingredients and mix by hand. Pour mixture into prepared pan. Bake for 30-35 minutes.

Cake Topping:

1 cup granulated sugar
5 tablespoons butter
1/3 cup milk
6 oz. chocolate chips (1/2 a bag)

Combine sugar, butter and milk in a sauce pan over medium-high heat, stirring constantly. When it comes to a boil, let it continue to boil for 1 minute. Remove from heat and add chocolate chips. Stir until melted and then pour over cake and spread.
